Privacy Policy

Plain-Language Summary: NeverLoseIt saves what you type into web forms so you can recover it if you lose the page. All data is stored locally on your device — we do not operate any tracking servers, and we never see, collect, or transmit your data. We never capture passwords, payment card numbers, or one-time codes.

1. Information We Collect (And What We Strictly Exclude)

NeverLoseIt operates exclusively on your local computer to monitor form input fields in real time.

What Is Recorded:

  • Form field input values: Text entered into standard inputs, textareas, dropdowns, and checkboxes.
  • Document metadata & attachments: File attachments selected in file inputs, stored locally to enable recovery.
  • Contextual metadata: The URL and domain of the website hosting the form, field identifiers/labels, and timestamps.

What Is NEVER Collected:

  • Passwords: Any field with type="password" or marked as a password is permanently ignored by hardcoded rules.
  • Payment & Card Data: Credit card numbers (validated via the Luhn algorithm), CVV codes, and expiration dates are strictly excluded.
  • Sensitive Government Identifiers: Social Security numbers (SSN) and national identification patterns are automatically detected and masked/dropped.
  • Verification Codes: Two-factor authentication (2FA) SMS codes and one-time passwords (OTP) are rejected.
  • Excluded Sites: Domains you explicitly add to your exclusion list are never monitored.

2. Where Your Data Is Stored

All saved form data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB storage on your personal machine.

  • We do not operate cloud servers that receive or sync your form entries.
  • Your form data is never transmitted to the developer or any third party.
  • We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade any user data under any circumstances.

3. Data Retention & Automatic Cleanup

To protect your privacy and maintain optimal device performance, NeverLoseIt employs automatic lifecycle cleanup:

  • In-Progress Drafts: Retained for a maximum of 14 days from the last edit, after which they are automatically pruned.
  • Submitted Forms: Once a form is detected as successfully submitted, its retention window is reduced to 48 hours before automated cleanup.
  • Configurable Retention: You can adjust retention windows or disable auto-retention at any time inside the extension Settings.

4. Your Rights and User Controls

You have full, autonomous control over all data captured by NeverLoseIt:

  • Per-Site Exclusion: Add any website to your Excluded Sites list to permanently disable form tracking on that domain.
  • Individual Entry Deletion: Delete specific saved form entries at any time via the Popup mini-screen or Side Panel.
  • One-Click Complete Wipe: Clear your entire local database instantly by clicking "Clear All Saved Forms" in Settings.
  • Exporting: You can export your saved form records as JSON or CSV directly from the Side Panel for local archiving.
  • Uninstalling: Removing the extension from Chrome instantly deletes all extension files, settings, and cached databases from your browser.

5. Why NeverLoseIt Requests Specific Browser Permissions

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store policies, here is an explicit breakdown of why each permission is required:

Permission Why It Is Needed
<all_urls> / Page Access Required to detect active input fields as you type and restore your saved progress across any website where you choose to fill out forms. Only form input fields are evaluated; unrelated page content is ignored.
storage Used to store user preferences (e.g. excluded domains, retention settings) and local session state within the browser.
activeTab & scripting Required to execute the restoration script that repopulates inputs, selects, and file attachments when you explicitly click "Restore Now".
sidePanel Provides the dedicated browser Side Panel that lets you search and view your form history alongside your active web page.
alarms Used solely to schedule background periodic cleanups of expired form drafts according to your retention settings.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Any material modifications will be noted in the extension release notes.
